99 Nights in the Forest Classes Tier List

A tier list that admits what it does not know. We publish our ranking axes, our last verification date, and we leave any class with unverified perks unranked instead of guessing it into a tier.

Current standing

All three classes named in the 2026-09-05 New Classes content — Escape Artist, Elemental and Woodsman — are currently unranked. We will not place a class in a tier until we have measured its perks in game. Until then, choose by playstyle using our class page.

How tiers are decided

Methodology

  • Tier placement is an editorial judgement, not a game value. It is shown separately from confirmed mechanics.
  • We rank on four axes: solo survivability, group value, economy contribution and late-run scaling.
  • Any class without verified perks stays unranked instead of being guessed into a tier.
  • Tiers are re-cut after every in-game verification pass, and the date of the last pass is shown on the page.

Limits of this list

A tier list is a snapshot, and this one is deliberately incomplete. Class perk data in our fact library is still marked NEEDS_VERIFY, and we would rather publish an empty tier than a confident wrong one.

What would change these tiers

A verified perk list, a confirmed unlock cost, and a measured impact on at least two ranking axes. None of those exist for the current roster yet, which is why every tier is empty.

What to do next

  • Use the playstyle table on the Best Classes page if you need a pick today.
  • Recheck after our next in-game pass — tiers get cut only from measured data.

Frequently asked questions

How is this tier list built?
On four axes: solo survivability, group value, economy contribution and late-run scaling. Tier placement is our editorial judgement, shown separately from confirmed mechanics.
Why are some classes unranked?
Because we refuse to rank what we have not measured. Any class without verified perks in our data stays unranked until an in-game pass confirms them.
Does a higher tier mean more damage?
No. Damage is one input. Survivability and economy matter more in this game because night hunters cannot be killed — disengaging beats out-damaging.
